Alcoholic Mountain Dew goes on sale in select states

WASHINGTON (TND) — Popular soda-pop beverage Mountain Dew is returning to its roots —being mixed with alcohol.
The PepsiCo-owned brand was originally created in 1940 as a mixer for alcoholic beverages.
Now, PepsiCo is rolling out a new line of hard beverages: HARD MTN Dew, according to The Boston Beer Company, which is partnering to help create the drink.
The Boston Beer Company and PepsiCo share a passion for pushing boundaries and delivering innovative new beverages that meet the evolving demands of U.S. drinkers," said Lesya Lysyj, CMO of The Boston Beer Company. "HARD MTN DEW delivers on the bold, citrus flavors of the soft drink fans know and love, now with an added bite of 5% ABV."Beginning Feb. 24, the drink will be sold in four flavors in Florida, Tennessee and Iowa, with plans to expand into more states throughout 2022.
HARD MTN Dew's flavors are:
- Original MTN DEW
- Baja Blast
- Black Cherry
- Watermelon
Folks can get the drinks in single-serve 24 oz. cans, or in a 12 pack with 12 oz. cans.
The partnership between The Boston Beer Company and Mountain Dew to create the alcoholic beverage line-up was first announced in August.
